GREETINGS

As one part of my journey has ended, the next is just beginning. Alina and I invite you to follow our adventures in Kazakhstan as we journey toward getting to know each other and slowly build our relationship as Mother...Daughter...Family. Please come back often as I will be blogging about our day to day activities along with lots of pictures!

Cheers,
Kim

Alive and Doing Well!!

Dear Family and Friends,
Thanks to ALL who have sent emails of concern to me. Everything is going very well! Mom, Dad, and I are over our colds. Dad's throat is still sore but he has medicine for it.
As Marcia said, we are in Almaty right now waiting on the last bit of Alina's paperwork to be completed at the US Embassy. That should be all done by Friday. We will start heading toward the US of A on Sunday, Sept. 27!!! All of us are sooo ready to sleep in our own beds, take a shower in our own bathrooms, and eat some familiar food to say the least.
Alina is adjusting well...it's Mom, Dad, and I who are having to do most of the adjusting! She is a happy little munchkin who weighs exactly 30 lbs and is 2'11.8" tall according to the SOS International Clinic here in Almaty. She never stops moving...she's a little tornado...even in her sleep. She certainly doesn't miss the orphanage but is sort of missing her playmates. We are having to establish some new rules and get rid of some old bad habits but other than that, she's a little spitfire that is lighting up all our lives at the moment! She certainly loves her Mama and she is getting to know her Ata and Aje. She could outeat and outdrink the largest Sumo wrestler in the world! My baby does love her food!
I am working on the detailed posts that I owe everyone so don't fret! I'll try to post them when we get home and get settled (You will cry your eyes out on the Gotcha Day post). This will be the last post until next week. Just know that all of us appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and good vibes everyone has sent our way.

Love to all,
Kim and Alina

PS. I've officially changed my name to Mama...mama...mama...mama...mama...mama...and mama!!!

Hey Kim,
Glad to hear you made it to Almaty and are on the home stretch. Look forward to reading the detailed posts at a later date, which I have a feeling may be later than you think from personal experience.

Safe travels home-

Thanks much for checking in--SUCH exciting news that you'll be home very soon!
I want to mention that with both of my adoption journeys, my days in Almaty were the hardest part of my journey--- the huge and modern and busy City of Almaty overwhelmed me after all our time in the more rural and familiar Taraz; and trying to keep the girls occupied in an unfamiliar and different-style hotel room was a challenge; I found the days were long there--quite the contrast to my days in Taraz where I kept busy and the days flew quickly.

If this happens to be a bit of what you're experiencing also, then just push through it (as you have done with every other part of your adoption journey!) and keep your chin up---know that you'll be home soon!
You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers,
Marcia

Awesome news on all fronts. Can't wait for your "catch-up" posts, but knowing you guys are busy, happy, (and reasonably healthy?) in the meantime is enough for now! Safe travels home. :)
